Robert A. Morton - Founder

Rob Morton, a higher education professional for ten years and the founder of Theological Misfit, a podcast centered on providing a millennial's perspective on theology, culture, and politics, is the founder and creator of TCP (Transforming Communities Projects).  An active Pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, public theologian, and vocalist, Rob seeks to use his connections to public and private industry to promote health, wealth development, and educational equity to those in the margins.

Rob's roots begin in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he learned powerful lessons of love, hope, and respect from his parents and grandparents. In 2001, Rob, while in high school, began exploring the connections between race, religion, and culture during the civil unrest surrounding the killing of unarmed Timothy Thomas by Officer Stephen Roach. "I knew I was black, however, I didn't realize that my black skin was weaponized in our culture. The death of Timothy Thomas in the words of the great theologian, Howard Thurman, made me come alive." Rob participated in the Cincinnati Collaborative Agreement and in a student exchange with Turpin High School. These events and more led to the creation of TCP. This venture provides a sightline of success for our young people and provides opportunities for mentorship to occur in a safe, inviting and creative environment. Since July 2022, Robert has been happily married to Rachel, his partner, and amazing wife. They reside in Chico with their children and pet family.
